AIM Specialty Health® (AIM) Precertification/Preapproval for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Coronary Angiography and Arterial Ultrasound Services for Commercial Members
The Company requires precertification/preapproval through AIM Specialty Health® (AIM) for percutaneous coronary intervention, coronary angiography and arterial ultrasound for most members enrolled in its Commercial HMO and PPO products.
To direct the application of these services for these members, AIM utilizes Company medical policy. Additionally, there are certain services for which AIM’s
Clinical Appropriateness Guidelines for Cardiology and Arterial Ultrasound
are applied during the precertification/preapproval process. For more information about the cardiology services that require precertification/preapproval, refer to the current version of medical policy #11.02.27: Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Coronary Angiography and Arterial Ultrasound.
